Cadw uses Audiopost at Caerwent Roman Town
Audioposts Ltd have been working with Cadw to provide audio interpretation for the historic Roman town of Caerwent in South Wales and having no power across most of the 44-acre site and being unmanned poses no challenges for the new battery-powered Audiopost.
The Audiopost provides information in Welsh and English languages. Three buttons for each language provide a welcome message, information about Caerwent Roman Town and inform the visitor how they can navigate and find more information about the town.
An archaeologist was present for a watching brief to ensure that archaeology was not disturbed during the installation of the Audiopost's mount which consists of a small poured concrete plinth.
The Audiopost is expected to operate for over three months before batteries require recharging. One of the challenges Cadw has is to calculate visitor numbers to the town. To help with this, a counter has been included in the Audiopost's design to count the number of users who use the Audiopost.
The opening of the site will be on 4th November at 10.30am at the Westgate Barn Entrance.
